Market Street. (250watts) |
 | Sold
in 1924 for 25K to Ike Levy and Daniel Murphy (Philadelphia
lawyers) |
 | Became
part of newly formed CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System in 1928. |
 | Sold
in 1946 to David Stern (Publisher), who sold it the next year to
the Bulletin (Philly newspaper). The Bulletin later sold it
back to CBS. |
 | After
flirting with news and talk through the 80's the station ceased
talk on 8/15/1990 at 1:05 pm, just before former mayor Frank Rizzo
was to go on the air and right after Clark DeLeon finished up.
Yearly average ratings before this were 1985 - 3.7 | 1986 - 2.8 |
1987 - 2.9 | 1988 - 3.2 | 1989 - 3.6 | to mid 1990 - 2.9 |
 | Then
the station assumed the identity of WOGL-AM and simulcast most of
WOGL-FM's signal except for sports. |
 | Changed
again on 3/18/1994 to WGMP (The Game) - sports format. |
 | In
August of 1996 it reverted to a talk format under the calls of
WPTS. Those calls were changed to WPHT sometime in September
96 (?). |
